List of Unacceptable or Hazardous Waste

White Line Waste
As consumers in a modern world we are sure to generate household hazardous waste or HHW. HHW is any leftover or unused portion of a product used in most household applications that is corrosive, toxic, flammable, or reactive.  In most cases, these products cannot be placed in regular household trash or in a dumpster for disposal.  If you want to ensure that hazardous waste is not going to harm the environment, you first need to know how to dispose of it properly.

Unacceptable Waste List

We have compiled a small list of ways to properly dispose of unacceptable waste. You can check out the extensive list on our main page. Each material is different, and even different versions of the same material must be disposed of differently. Make sure you know all the facts to safely dispose of potentially hazardous or harmful materials. The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 gave the United States Environmental Protection Agency the authority to control hazardous waste and has become the minimum standard for state environmental laws.

In response to the need for proper disposal of Household Hazardous Waste, most cities, towns, or districts have a Household Hazardous Waste Facility that accepts these items from residents for free or a small fee. They may also offer drop off events or satellite locations in your area.  Check your local listing for an HHW Facility near you.
